3D Paper Purse Tutorial for Mother’s Day

Hi everyone! In my latest video tutorial, I’m back with another 3D paper project! This time it’s a paper purse for Mother’s Day (but could also be a great gift for other occasions such as birthdays, or as a party favor for showers, etc).

Click the image below to watch:

These mini purses are really cute and are pretty simple and quick to make! They are the perfect size to hold small gifts, candy, or things like nail polish!

Materials:

  • Card stock paper (thicker paper works much better for this) – I used gold foil paper from Michaels for the buckles to make them more realistic
  • Hot glue or other strong adhesive
  • Scissors
  • Pencil

DIY Embroidered Paper For Mother’s Day!

Hi everyone! Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and in my latest video tutorial, we’re doing some paper embroidery to create a diy gift for your mom (or grandma)! Embroidery has been super popular lately and I’ve been loving it. This project is a great way for beginners to give it a try, and because it’s on paper, it puts a fun twist on the embroidery that you usually see!

Handmade gifts are great, and your mom will especially appreciate the time and effort it took you to make something just for her! This project isn’t difficult, but you’ll definitely want to set aside some time for it, as it isn’t a super quick project.

We’ll be using only two different stitches for this project – the super simple Straight Stitch/Running Stitch (this great video shows how to do it if you’re having trouble) and the Backstitch (shown here in this great video).

Materials:

  • Picture frame to fit an 8″ x 10″ image (mine was from Walmart)
  • Card stock (you definitely need to use thicker, heavier weight paper for this project or else it will tear. Choose a color that contrasts well with your embroidery floss)
  • Embroidery floss in your choice of colors (I used 4 colors – pink, purple, blue, green)
  • Carpet needle or other needle with an eye large enough for the embroidery floss
  • Piece of foam or other object that you can push a needle into
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Paper trimmer or ruler to trim down paper to 8″ x 10″ size

(It is been reversed so you will be able to print it on the back side of the paper and still have it look right on the front)

The biggest tip I can give you is to put plenty of space between the holes as you are punching them. Too close together, and you’ll find they tear easily as you pull the floss through. Also, some tearing will likely happen anyway, and that’s ok – just skip it and move on to the next hole.

3D Paper Tea Cup For Mother’s Day!

Hi everyone! I’ve been really loving three dimensional paper projects lately, and in this new tutorial, I’m back with another one – a paper tea cup for Mother’s day! (or any other occasion!) These are so cute and an especially fun gift for anyone who loves tea. In the video, I filled mine with tea packages but the tea cup could hold candy or small gifts also!

Click the image below to watch the video:

Materials:

  • Card stock (heavier weight paper should be used for this, it will make it much stronger)
  • Glue (I used a glue gun, but other adhesives such as Tacky glue or a glue stick should work)
  • Ribbon (works best if it’s 1/8″ width or thinner)
  • Scissors
  • Pencil

Flower Shaped Paper Gift Box Tutorial

This is a video tutorial showing how to create a flower shaped box out of paper!

This video was made with Mother’s Day in mind, but this box would make a great gift idea for birthdays, anniversaries, or for anyone who likes flowers! Its small size is great for filling with candy or other small gifts, such as jewelry, and being handmade makes it even more special 🙂

This project works best with paper that is a bit thicker than regular paper, such as card stock or construction paper.

Paper Birdhouse Tutorial

Edit: Just discovered the second pattern had been missing and added it back! 🙂

A new video just went up! It shows how to create a cute little paper birdhouse, which you can fill with candy and give to your mom for Mother’s Day!

You could also make these for other occasions, of course – I think they’d be great for Easter, too.

Click here to view & print the template:

*Have a Cricut or other cutting machine? An SVG file of this project is now available for purchase here!

If you are going to be putting candy in the birdhouse, make sure to use paper that is strong enough to hold it. Card stock works very well for this.

If you make this and you’d like to share, tag me on instagram @essyjae 🙂
