Miniature Fireplace Christmas Countdown Advent Calendar!

Hi everyone! Hope your holiday season is off to a great start. This week I’m bringing you one of my favorite Christmas projects I’ve ever designed! It’s a Christmas Countdown Calendar / Advent Calendar that looks like an adorable miniature fireplace and mantle, complete with hanging miniature stockings!

Click the image below to watch the tutorial:

This calendar uses blocks to count down the days, and has the capability to start the countdown as far back as 32 days before Christmas.

Materials:

  • Card stock (you’ll definitely want to use thicker, heavier paper for this project – thin paper won’t work right) You’ll need 4-5 colors of paper.
  • Strong glue (I used both hot glue and Tombow mono liguid glue)
  • Scoring tool or bone folder
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Letter & number stickers, or cut out ones with a die cutting machine (or you can just hand write everything – I used my Cricut machine to cut the letters and numbers out)
  • Pencil
  • Metal brads (optional – use them to hang the stockings from)

Have a cutting machine? The SVG file of this project is available here in my Etsy shop!

You’ll also need to cut a piece of card stock to the size of 5.5″ wide x 9″ tall.

You’ll need to put the following numbers on the blocks:

Block One: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Block Two: 0, 1, 2, 6, 7, 8

The 6 will need to be able to look like a 9 when flipped over.

Merry Christmas!

Let me know if you have any questions, and please tell me if you made it 🙂

Note: This pattern is for personal use only. Please do not sell what you make from this file, altered or unaltered.

Cute Cat and Pug Candy Holder Valentine Tutorial

Hi everyone! Hope your February has been great so far! In this week’s tutorial, we’re creating some cute cat and pug themed valentines. These aren’t just your typical Valentine though, they have a special large pocket to hold whatever you’d like, such as candy or small gifts! These would also work for other occasions besides Valentine’s day.

My original design evolved a lot to become this final version. I haven’t seen anything quite like it with the pocket, and I think it turned out really fun! Sometimes running into challenges will help you create something better than what you originally had in mind.

Also, since my YouTube channel was originally named for my old pug, Mischief, it didn’t seem right that I have never done a single pug themed craft before. So we’re fixing that today 🙂

Difficulty: Easy

Time needed: ~30-45 minutes

Materials:

  • Card stock (go with a thicker paper for this project)
  • Score tool (or an old pen that doesn’t write)
  • X-Acto knife
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Pencil

Mini Gingerbread House Gable Box Tutorial

Hi everyone! In this week’s video tutorial, we’re making a tiny gable box that looks like a gingerbread house! These are the perfect size for small gifts such as gift cards, jewelry, candy, and more.

I’ve always liked gingerbread houses (if you’ve seen a few of my Christmas tutorials like my Simple Paper Gingerbread House Tutorial, Gingerbread House Snow Globe Tutorial, or my Halloween Paper Gingerbread House Tutorial I didn’t have to tell you that! 🙂 ) For this project, I thought a gable box might be the perfect shape to turn into a gingerbread house, and I think it worked really well.

Because this project involves an X-Acto knife, please ask someone to supervise if you are young 🙂

Difficulty: Easy

Time needed: ~1 hour

Materials:

  • Kraft card stock paper (works great and is already gingerbread colored!)
  • White gel pen
  • Fine white glitter
  • X-Acto knife
  • Score tool
  • Scissors
  • Pencil

Crepe Paper Crocus Flower Tutorial

In this video tutorial, we are creating paper crocus flowers!

Where I live, crocuses are nature’s way of saying Spring is almost here! I believe they are the flower associated with Spring for many others, also.

These aren’t hard to make and they are pretty adorable. Put them in a mason jar, and they make a really cute desk decoration!

Time needed: ~30 minutes (per flower)

Difficulty: Easy
